Our stock are deemed non-firing replicas because they can’t be rigged or modified to fire blanks. The barrels are solid (roughly half way down) and don’t include firing pins.
The Denix replicas we set are made of metal (without iron or steel, known as ZAMAK, whose basic component is ZINC (Zn) in 95% of the total) which is usually zinc overlaid with various finishes like pewter, nickel, brass, etc.) to simulate the original metal that would have been used. For the grips, these are either done in wood or in the case of Ivory grips – a resin/plastic, to simulate what the originals would have looked like.
For the most part, the replicas act like the originals: hammers can be pulled back, cylinders rotate, levers can be pulled, triggers can be pulled, hammers drop. Only real difference we’ve found in the case of Western revolvers – on an original you’d be able to pull out the bottom pin to release the cylinder: pins and cylinders are solid to the piece and can’t be removed. In the case with some flintlocks and rifles, ramming rods are purely decorative (some are even a static part of the replica and can’t be removed).
All of our replica guns are non-firing models. They cannot fire real ammunition or be modified to fire real ammunition.
No our replicas do not have orange plugs!!
We strongly discourage the manipulation of our models to modify or alter both their appearance or their functionality. We decline all responsibility for the result of the changes made by the customer in any of our original models.
That being said, we’ve had creative customers in the past who have used some of our products mounted onto motorcycles, gear shifts, door handles, etc. so there are lots of possibilities.
